Explosions in the Sky– Sasquatch (May 28-31, 2012)

This Austin-based band (Explosions in the Sky) BLEW ME AWAY the first time I heard them. It’s amazing to think that 4 guitars on stage can meld together such beautiful “cathartic mini-symphonies,” and create an atmospheric sound that sets you rocketing to the moon. (Most would think 4 guitars at once = noise!) I LOVE that this music is purely instrumental, and I think the addition of vocals would disturb the healthy catharsis that it fuels. My favorite tracks are: Glittering Blackness, Day Six, Day Eight, Last Known Surroundings, Be Comfortable Creature, Yasmin the Light, First Breath After Coma.
